Save The... Library?

“That library, to my way of thinking, was an abortion the day it was dedicated. I am a lover of art. I can even stand abstract art. But God darn, who in the world would build something like that? There ain’t no damn artistic value to that library.” ~ Fulton County Caveman Tom Lowe

Sorry, but we can’t let this unbelievable quote go to waste. We don’t really broker in the whole “SAVE THE [insert thing not really worth saving] schtick, but this one hits close to the icy barren cavity where our heart should be. We understand that libraries are useless in this day and age because we have the intertubes, and that we should get rid of all the books and paper and everybody buy Kindles, and down with cds, and material possessions, use less water, use less energy, drive a vegetable, drink your own urine thing. We get that. Really. We do. And we’re all for progress and exploding old worthless stuff, like old people, but tearing down one of the few successful modern architectural achievements in this city (a library, no less!!!) to make way for another Grape is Mr. Burns-level evil developer shit. The Library —to borrow a phrase from Mr. Lowe— ain’t no damn Gherkin, but it’s all we’ve got.

He should at least wait until they’ve finished the thing before criticizing it.

don’t creepy people deserve nice surroundings and architecture in which to masturbate? I say yay.

oh my god THANK YOU. I sound like such a bitch when I talk shit about grape but it’s the WORST. just conceptually, it’s the absolute worst. besides tom lowe.

Amen. Save the Buckhead Library! We are so oooover highrise condos in this town.
