Depressing

“These are some of the best movies that the filmmaking culture is turning out now. Every year there are at least 20 or 25 films that are somewhere between excellent, very good or good enough to watch and think about later. If regular people in Boston and Saskatchewan are living such insulated and cut-off lives that they can’t be bothered to go to some of these films unless it has an advertised ‘happy pill’ vibe then the hell with them. They’re children. I have no time for childishness, and neither does anyone else of any worth. Life is short.” ~ Jeffrey Wells

i’m guessing she’s not going to be his friend much longer.

i’ll take these over the happy fun times in Hairspray any day.

One way of looking at it is that these people had it so bad you leave the theater feeling better about yourself.

why Boston and Saskatchewan? Random.

Let’s see: Ellen Page, Boston and Saskatchewan=not fuckable.

Stewart was stellar; that was a lot of pressure. One of the few that old and young can feel comfortable with…

It’s a shame that Zodiac didn’t, as far as I know, get nominated for anything, since at least that would let allied movie store clerks stick it on the “Oscar Nominees” shelf. The movie deserves to be seen, even if Baron Davis said he liked the book better.

On behalf on the entire city of Boston, Jeffery Wells can go fahk himself. Queeah.

I live in Boston, too. Considering this is one of the US “cosmopolitan” cities and there are so many educated people per capita, that makes his statements extra sad.

Who the fuck is Jeffrey Wells? I just looked him and am still asking that question.

“Control” should have gotten cinematog nod.

“regular people in Boston”

What the fuck does that mean? I’m guessing by “regular” he means the average moviegoer. The couple who attends a Friday night showing at 8:00 pm after dinner so they have something to do that night.

But to call out Boston is absurd. That person can be found in every major city in America. I think that was pretty insulting and more importantly ignorant. I think Jeff has a solid site, albeit way too frequently updated, but this statement is just fucking stupid.
