IGN: Do you do much crying in the new Bret Easton Ellis adaptation, The Informers?

HEARD: Not so much crying in it… I read the script, loved it. I said, ‘It’s based on the novel right?’ And they said, ‘Oh, no, no… Don’t read the novel. You won’t want to do the movie!’ They were afraid that a girl like me would be afraid to jump into a project so dark. Little did they know, that’s what I love. You know me…

IGN: So what can we expect?

HEARD: Drugs, sex and rock’n’roll. For everyone. It’s brilliant. It’s really gross – I mean that word very specifically. It’s very real. It’s very gritty. It’s very in your face. It’s about decadent, decadent Hollywood. The nastiest, beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. It’s a hard pill to swallow but very powerful.

IGN:: Does that mean sex and violence for your character?

HEARD: She’s a bad girl. I play Christie and if I say too much, I’ll give away a very important part of the film. She’s very wealthy and she represents a very strong evil. She does drugs and is very promiscuous. It’s like a Crash-type movie with several different storylines linked by my character.

IGN: Did you have to do many nude scenes?

HEARD: Mmm-hmm. And sex scenes.

IGN: Did that bother you?

HEARD: Not for the right project. It’s my job. Not to be naked, but to tell a story. And if it’s important to the story, I don’t have any problem with it. I think it’s silly the way society puts a high price-tag on the body. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It’s sad. Those remnants of religion. I don’t appreciate people’s conservative views on that. It’s less intimidating that you think it is. It’s beautiful. It’s art. And I’m glad to be a part of it.
