It's Terrific!

Orson Welles’ 1941 “metaphysical detective story” Citizen Kane was again rated the best movie ever Wednesday by the American Film Institute. The YouTube clip is the original trailer for the film. (via wiki)

The CBS special was ace though the commentary was off in parts (i.e., Sharon Stone and her crazy eyes talking about any movie.)

No Amadeus, what a crime.

Fun sucked back then

bicycle thief all robbed again

the Sixth Sense and Toy Story. pffft.

I was amazed at some of the stunts they were able to pull off in the old pre-FX, black and white movies. EXpecially Chaplin and Howard Hawks.

Love the folksy promotion, as if Welles could somehow offset the iconoclastic vision of the film.

If not the best, still the most courageous.
