Sam Cooke :: Having A Party (Live at the Harlem Square Club)

9/27/2007

Late Arrival

It’s not everyday that some pr dude for FX turns us on to our new obsession. To put it mildly, if 30 Rock fails to perform this season, we have a new favorite show. Blasphemy, you say?! Hold your horses. So why is It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia maybe the best show on tv? One not so easy reason is that the characters have successfully reclaimed and breathed new life into classic curse words like shit, dickhead, and asshole. (trendy derogatory terms such as douchebag, asshat, and twatwaffle are all, thankfully, absent) All of a sudden we’re falling down laughing at “Oh, shit,” which is usually said at least once an episode. But we’re not just laughing at some simple shit jokes. The actors (Dennis’ expressions, pick a McPoyle brother), the delivery (anything Charlie says), the directing (Fred Savage!) and, of course, the writing (see: the cast) are all top notch. Everything on this show works. It’s a diamond. Tune in, if haven’t already.

i have to agree - quite possibly the only thing worth watching right now.

yup. best thing on tv for sure. and season one from the get go is solid as hell too. not like the simpsons and seinfeld where it took 2-3 years to get really good. this is classic out of the gates

they’re a cracked out version of the seinfeld characters. i heart the way they make Dee bitchy but vulnerable.

i guess they have to use DeVito to sell the show but he’s the least funny character, tbh.

the charlie guy reminds me of Bob Goldthwait for some reason…

there is a strong visible resemblance.

charlie is easily the funniest person on television right now.

besides justinbobby, but he doesn’t mean to be funny.

obviously none of you are watching kid nation, the finestestest show since the surreal life season 1

Don’t tell me you just caught on to this ? yes it does bring the funny quite well indeed.

Sigh, sadly I too have just caught on to this. I hang my television addicted head in shame.

the mcpoyle bros have got to go down as some of the ugliest people to have (dis)graced my t.v., and they bring out this deep sick laugh in me that’s frankly a little disturbing.
